Who doesn’t love to get together, mingle and catch up with friends? For those of us seeking out a healthy lifestyle but also having an active social life we know at times it can be challenging. That is exactly part of the reason why Leah Caplanis created the new drink, SOCIAL.
Seven years ago Leah was diagnosed with Thyroid Cancer in her mid twenties. Approaching her cancer from a holistic place, Leah learned a great deal about the mind body connection and set out on a path to take control of her health. During this time Leah gave up drinking alcohol for over three years. As her health began to improve and Leah was living a happy active life she realized she would like to enjoy the occasional cocktail at social events. After weighing her options on what alcohol to choose Leah, “realized there had to be something better out there for people”. It was then she took matters into her own hands.
Leah put together a team at the University of Chicago and entered a competition that allowed her to start her product. It was then that SOCIAL Enjoyments was created.
Here’s some info about SOCIAL worth knowing:
- Hibiscus Sparkling Cucumber Sake Wine Cocktail
- It can be sipped as is or mixed to create a cocktail
- Gluten Free
- Half the calories of wine-88 calories for the entire can
- 1/3 of the calories as Skinny Girl products
- Sweetened with organic Stevia
- 1 Gram of Sugar
- GMO free
- 4% alcohol vs. wine & liquor which can range from 8%-28%
- Every 3 months Leah and her company will choose a different charity to donate a portion of the proceeds to.
- New SOCIAL drinks will be coming out soon! I’m thinking they’re may be a wintery mix in the near future…
Right now proceeds are going back to Imerman Angels. A tremendous organization that partners individuals cancer fighters, caregivers and survivors to create a one – on -one support system. SOCIAL founder, Leah, was a volunteer, cancer fighter and an angel with the organization. I have had the pleasure of knowing Jonny Imerman, the founder of Imerman Angels, for many years. He is a true inspiration!
What I love about what Leah’s doing is that she’s creating a brand and a product with health in mind. Women want to enjoy themselves, be healthy, social and still wake up the next morning feeling fabulous. I’m so inspired by Leah’s passion and her drive to give back as well.
Be on the look out for SOCIAL in Chicago. Currently, TRUMP & Untitled have specialty cocktails made with SOCIAL. (I’m not saying to go out and drink, but if you’re over 21 and want to enjoy a cocktail it’s nice to know there’s health conscious companies out there.) You can also find it at Target, Mariano’s and Whole Foods.
Have a fun and fit day, Chicago.
