My goal is to share ALL the knowledge I have obtained over the last nine years about hair, skin and nails with everyone who is "Mane conscious"!

It brings me great pleasure to present to some and introduce to others Ms.Leila Noelliste, founder and editor of Black Girl with Long Hair.  BGLH is a website dedicated to celebrating natural hair.

Leila started BGLH in April 2008 and now receives on average 500,000 monthly views and has more than 10,200 Facebook fans from the United States, Canada, the UK, South Africa, Japan and the Netherlands!  If that isn't enough check this out: BGLH has been featured by AOL Black Voices, Clutch Magazine, Arise Magazine, The National Association of Black Journalists and Vocalo.org.  Leila currently appears in Creme of Nature's 2010 print campaign, which features well-known beauty bloggers.

Prior to blogging Leila worked as a full-time reporter in the Chicago metropolitan area, covering youth and education for The Chicago Defender, and courts and legal affairs for The Daily Journal.  Her work has been published by The Associated Press and the Chicago Tribune.  Her personal reflections on life and faith have been published by Relevant Magazine, a leading contemporary Christian publication.  She graduated cum laude from Wheaton College (IL) in 2006 with a degree in Communication.

When it comes to "mane attention" Leila has been natural for 3 1/2 years now, and she did a mini-chop in October 2009.  Her favorite go-to style is a fro-hawk!

I want to personally thank Leila for starting the BGLH Meet Ups in Chicago.  I love the fact that we all come together to celebrate natural hair, support each others businesses, and link our resources together!!  Truly you are a treasure to the natural hair community and a huge blessing to all happy nappies in Chicago!

Everybody come out and join us at the Black Girl Long Hair meet up Saturday June 26, 2010 from 11am to 3pm, at The Little Black Pearl located at 1060 East 47th street, Chicago IL.

Hope to see you there!

Cynthia
