Gay women take over Pops for Champagne

Sick of the same old lesbian haunts? Tonight's your chance to engage with some other gay women in an otherwise "straight" atmosphere. Lesbian social crew Sapphic Adventures is staging a Guerilla Girl Bar Take-Over this evening at the downtown live music spot, Pops For Champagne (601 N. State St.)
From 6 to 10 p.m., you can mingle with several new lesbians (63
confirmed at last count) in an unorthodox space. If you haven't heard
of guerilla gay groups or events, it's a nationwide trend that has
member of the LGBT community gathering in bars and clubs outside of the
typical separate ones they are used to. Thus, it's a complete takeover,
and total fun.
Organizer Kelly Zeng told the Chicago Free Press that women weren't participating in the Chicago guerilla gay events, and mostly older women were coming to the Sapphic Adventures brunches. The idea is to have younger queer women to come out, "move around and have fun" in a "higher end" establishment.
Are you interested in something new? Sapphic Adventures said they hope to have more Guerilla Girl Bars in the future.

Thanks for blogging about us. Our (Sapphic Adventures) Guerrilla Girl Bar night at Pops for Champagne attracted 80-100 women, much better than we had anticipated. Our next GGB event is scheduled on Oct. 23 @ Old Town Social, 455 W North Ave. We don't just have bar events. In Oct., we have biking, brunch, hiking events as well. Check us out http://www.sapphicadventures.org. Memberships are free. We are all volunteers trying to bring some changes to our social scene.
