I Fight Dragons

Downtime Part 2

Hey everyone!  So we've had some time off lately but are gearing back up to regular practice schedules and recording some new tunes.  While I don't have much band related stuff to share at the moment, I did have a pretty active weekend on my downtime.

Friday night, I went to Walter Payton's Roundhouse in Aurora. If you've never been, it's definitely worth a trip for some dinner, microbrew, and live music and comedy.  The Roundhouse is an old railcar building complex turned restaurant and brewpub.  I personally went there for the Mama Mia Pizza Beer (not brewed there but in Campton Township, IL) which literally tastes like drinking a pizza.  That might not sound too appealing but it tastes great!

Saturday morning I went to the Randall 15 IMAX Theater and watched Avatar in 3D.  The place was packed and the only seat I could get was in the very front row, but it was well worth the minor neck pain from having to look up at the screen for nearly three hours!  The effects were incredible.

That night was Chronicles of Rush, a tribute to the band Rush at the Alley Bowl in Addison.  Their set was three-and-a-half hours long! Geddy Lee was certainly one of my big influences on bass, and John from Chronicles definitely lays it down well. If you are a fan of Rush, this band is definitely worth checking out.

Sunday night was pretty laid back with some chicken wings and NTN Trivia at Buffalo Wild Wings in Lombard. I don't really know a ton of random facts but I still love playing the game, so if you're ever up for a round of NTN let me know!

OK, so not the most interesting weekend but definitely busy. Feel free to share anything interesting you did over last weekend.
