I am a DePaul senior Political Science major and Journalism minor.

Alderman Vi Daley (43rd) along with Alderman Tom Tunney (44th) welcomed sponsors from local businesses, residents, and community organizations to vote for their favorite entries for the 2010 Lakefront Sculpture Exhibit contest.

"Foxgloves and Fists"

2009 winning design "Foxgloves and Fists", from Nicole Beck it is located on Stockton Drive and Webster.

This is the eighth year for the exhibit. Twenty artists were chosen to be featured, they will each receive a stipend for the cost and construction fees for their work.

"It is a great program," said Alderman Daley. "These artists get a chance to show their art in a public space to be seen by hundreds of people every day and we get the opportunity to delight in the beauty, grace and creativity of their designs."

The already displayed sculptures around the 43rd and 44th Wards will be replaced by the new sculptures.

Another 2009 winner, by Michael Young "Going Green" located on Clark Street North of Drummond

The already 20 pieces chosen will go into production and should be coming out soon throughout the wards. Be on the look out for the new sculptures and take a last look at last years pieces.
