I am a graduate student at DePaul University studying journalism. Currently I am living in Chicago's Little Italy neighborhood with my husband and our 5-month-old son.

A man was charged with robbing a Gold Coast bank this week, the Chicago Tribune reported

Kenneth Wilson admitted to robbing a North Community Bank branch at 800 N. State St. on Tuesday, officials said.

Wilson appeared in U.S. District Court on Thursday, according to the Tribune, and was held without bail.

The Tribune said Wilson entered the bank shortly before 3 p.m. Tuesday and handed a teller a note warning her not to be a hero. Implying that he was armed, Wilson demanded the teller hand over $4,000 in the note, according to the FBI, and not to push any alarm buttons.

In a security mechanism designed to explode on money stolen during bank robberies, Wilson was given $187, said the Tribune.

Also confessing to authorities that he robbed an Old Town Chase Bank branch at 1700 N. Wells St. earlier this month, the Tribune said that he has only been charged in connection with his Gold Coast robbery.
