Tomorrow is Pulaski Day. A celebration of the Polish noble Kazimierz Pulaski, who is often called "the father of the American cavalry."
Pulaski saved George Washington's life. A hero of the Revolutionary War, he died in the Battle of Savannah. Pulaski is revered within the Polish community and at Navy Pier today a celebration of music, dance and all things Polish was held.
The following slideshow documents some of this celebration:
Celebrating Polska
I found this event to be entirely pleasant.
My Poland knowledge is by no means great but judging from today's event Poland has a rich and proud culture. It's not just sausages and beer (that's Germany, I think).
