"[He's the] philosopher of adolescence" - Roger Ebert on John Hughes
It hit us here at Fry Cook on Venus especially hard since we are carrying his name sake from Ferris Bueller's Day Off. I've bundled together some of my favorite John Hughes' movie clips for you to enjoy.

Great retrospective--I forgot about "Uncle Buck" and didn't even realize John Hughes did "Vacation."
Great blog!

A warm memory-when my daughter was hurt in an auto accident, a friend of our lent me his travel trailer with a little tv-with a vhs built in, and the movie-home alone. When I was facing a multitude of doctors and stress, I could escape to the trailer and laugh. I can't tell you how that video of home alone meant to me. A smile in the middle of a tramatic experience. I have all the home alone videoes, as well as the breakfast club and ferris bueller's day off that my disabled daughter and i still watch. thank you for helping me through Mr. John Hughes. I know God has a special place for people who make other's smile. And may God comfort the family in knowing what a great guy he was to all of us, sincerely genia and april
