Southwest Sale: NYC for $75, Minneapolis for $25

southwestplane.jpg

Check out the prices from Chicago Midway in Southwest Airlines' 72-hour sale: $75 to New York, $100 to San Francisco, and a measly $25 to Minneapolis.

Of course, they don't guarantee that your pilots will actually stop the plane when they get to Minneapolis. You might get to fly 25% farther for free!

(badumbum)

This is almost enough to make me want to pack up the three kids to visit my sister-in-law in Minnesota. Honestly, though, to fly all three of these kids somewhere, I think someone will have to pay me.

Disney on Ice for $11

I just ordered 4 tickets to Disney on Ice: 100 Years of Magic at the United Center for $11 a ticket. It's a promo offered by a Web site called Mom Central.

You go to the TicketMaster link above, and select the performance you want to attend. The "search for tickets" screen will contain three separate drop-down menus; the middle one, which says "MC promotion," is the one you want. Select the desired number of tickets (4 is the minimum), select the $11 price (or $45 if you want to sit in the VIP section), and then type the code "MOM" into the space provided.

And presto! Four tickets for $44, plus fees. My daughters are going to be purty happy.

Thanks to Marcie for this icy hot tip.

$10/$50 Old Navy Coupon From GreatClips

There was a coupon for a $6.99 kids haircut or $8.99 adult's haircut at Great Clips in yesterday's Tribune (sorry if I've sent you scrambling for your recycle bin). The flyer mentioned that you get a $10/$50 Old Navy coupon with every haircut at Great Clips. Not bad timing since Old Navy is having that $10 back-to-school sale right now.

It's not clear whether the Great Clips coupon will be good at the Old Navy Web site, but if it is, they are also offering 10% off a $75 purchase or 20% off $100 with the checkout code GETMORE, through Saturday only.

Deals on Chicago-area Attractions From Jewel-Osco

When you go shop at Jewel-Osco, you might notice there are booklets at the entrance advertising local attractions like Kiddieland or Medieval Times. These books don't usually have many grocery deals in them -- maybe a couple coupons -- but you should pick one up if you are planning on going out to a play or attraction anytime soon.

Current promotions include:

  • Raging Waves water park in Yorkville: $5 off adult admission, $3 off child for up to 5 family members per visit. Just show Jewel Preferred Card.
  • 50% off general admission prices at Medieval Times in Schaumburg, mention code # JEWEL at time of purchase, good through 9/1/09.
  • The Wiggles Go Bananas concert at Rosemont Theater, August 15 or August 16; $5 off; use code JEWEL on Ticketmaster (it's not clear but maybe you could mention the code at the Rosemont Theater Box Office as well).
  • Chicago Red Stars soccer $10 off premier section tickets through Ticketmaster only; order at 312-559-1212 with passcode JEWEL (might also work as a code on Ticketmaster.com? Good for four tickets per cardholder).
  • Cirque Shanghai at Navy Pier: Buy one ticket, get one free when you buy any Pepsi product. Show receipt at Jewel customer service to get a coupon (note: Pepsi 24-packs are on sale this week for $3.77 if you buy 2)
  • Kiddieland in Melrose Park: $3 off coupon on back page of this (and maybe all) of these Jewel attraction booklets will work for up to 4 people, good through Sept. 7. Since this is Kiddieland's last season, I will be using this to take my kids in the next month.
  • Six Flags Great America: Buy tickets at Jewel service desk to get adult tickets for the kids price of $34.99 ($36.04 with tax)
