Jewel-Osco Week of Oct. 14: General Mills Catalina Deal

For awhile there was a drought of Catalina deals at Jewel, but now they're coming one on the heels of another.

(What's a Catalina deal? Read my explaination of why Catalinas are a great way to get free or really cheap food.)

Today is the last day of the mostly ConAgra Catalina deal, so get your moneymaking Healthy Choice soup if your local store still has any. Tomorrow, it's time to buy General Mills stuff. Buy $25 worth of select products, get a $10 coupon to spend on your next order.

You may notice that the way Jewel advertises these deals has changed to discourage us extreme couponers from getting free stuff. They stopped printing the pre-card prices of the items in the flyer, so we need to go to the store and find out for ourselves what the full or pre-card "sale" prices are, in order to calculate the minimum we need to buy to get the $10 coupon. The ad also now says "Minimum purchase requirement calculated after manufacturer coupons." Which is weird because 1) It's not true -- I used plenty of coupons on this past week's deal to bring my total waaay below $25, and I still got the $10 coupon and 2) Strange that they don't say anything about the more central issue of whether you have to spend $25 Preferred price or regular price.

So I don't have scenarios yet, but the Totino's Pizza Rolls (a favorite guilty treat at our house) look promising considering there is a $1/2 in the 8/8 and 9/12 GM inserts.

Here are some of the items in the deal:

$1: Totino's Pizza Rolls 15-ct or Party Pizza, Betty Crocker cake mix, brownie mix, Green Giant frozen boxed vegetables, Progresso soup

$1.50: Betty Crocker frosting, Progresso Bread Crumbs or Green Giant 12 oz. frozen vegetables

$1.69 Chex Mix or Bugles

$2 General Mills Cereals Cheerios, Cinnamon Toast Crunch, and Betty Crocker fruit snacks, Betty Crocker muffin mixes, Pillsbury cinnamon or crescent rolls

$2.50 Pillsbury cookies, rolls or Sweet Moments, Yoplait Go-Gurt, Fiber One or Delights yogurt, Gold Medal flour

Places to find coupons for these products:

SmartSource ($.55/1 Cinnamon Toast Crunch,  $1/3 cereals, $.60/3 GG boxed veg, and pretty much everything else on the list)

the 10/10 SmartSource insert

Eat Better America

E-Centives (includes $1/1 Sweet Moments)

After I post the rest of this week's grocery deals, I'll get back to this with some possible deal scenarios. But if you have already figured out how to work this deal to your advantage, please share in the comments!
