Dominick's Just for U Review and Giveaway

Gather round while I tell you about my experience trying out Dominick's Just for U personalized savings program -- then comment for a chance to win one of eight $25 gift cards!

I just logged into my Dominick's account to try out the Just for U personalized savings program. Since I already had a sign in to the Web site with my card number entered, I didn't actually have to sign up for Just for U. The personalized deals just popped up, and I could hit a button to add them to my card just like I add regular coupons to my card.

The free eggs was the first thing I added to my card -- 12 Lucerne Grade A eggs.

Other than that, I wasn't very impressed by the personalized deals, because I usually wait for such rock bottom sales before I buy. I was offered a 12 oz. box of Kellogg's Rice Krispies for $2.67, but if they really knew my buying patterns, they'd know I rarely buy a box of cereal for more than $1.

A little more attractive were bananas at 44 cents a pound and O Organics baby food at 65 cents. Little do they know that I only buy the O Organics baby food when I have a $1 coupon, though, making the difference between 79 cents and 65 cents completely moot.

Anyway, it's interesting how they show the Walmart prices of each item below your personalized deal. Every little bit of savings you can get is a good thing, in my opinion -- although I wish we got these personalized deals automatically -- like on Jewel's Avenu program -- instead of having to remember to log in and add them.

How are the Just for U deals different from e-coupons, you might ask?

1) They can be used more than once -- as many times as you want until their expiration date which you should see on the site when you load the deal to your card.

2) You can combine these offers with manufacturer's coupons -- be it an ecoupon from Dominick's online coupon site, Cellfire or ShortCuts, or paper coupons.

Now, the giveaway:

1. Leave a comment and let me know if you have tried Just for U yet, and if so what you thought.

2. You can get a second entry by retweeting this post on Twitter. Only leave one comment per person, please. No need to leave a second comment to let me know you tweeted -- just include @carriekirby in your tweet and I'll tally it.

3. You can get a 3rd entry if you blog about your own experience with Just for U and link back to this post.

Contest ends Friday at 5 p.m.

Also! Dominick's is giving away even more gift cards through its Twitter stream. So this would be a good time to follow @dominicks.

I finally signed up just now... with a shopping trip planned for tomorrow. I'm looking through the deals now.

I have just added coupons and the deals to my card. Mine shows Target prices underneath.

honestly, I think it just makes everything more confusing. I don't want to have to take the time to figure in my personal prices, special ecoupons, and the regular prices and coupons I'm already using. And of course, it makes any other ecoupons totally confusing. I might get more into it, but so far I've pretty much ignored the personalized prices (once I load them onto my card). If I get a better deal, great. But it's not encouraging me to go out of my way to buy certain things there because it's just too much work.

I haven't tried it yet as i don't often shop at Dom's but i have been intrigued by your postings about 'adding coupons to your card' in the past and have been meaning to check it out.

I haven't signed up for the Just for U program yet, have been on coupon overload lately, taking a step back to see what others' experiences have been with it. Have had the same thought as to whether the deals I could create with specials and coupons would be better than what they offer. May just depend on the deal.

So, jury is still out for me. ;)

I signed up and got my free eggs, and some decent deals on a few things I've bought before (such as bananas) that I plan to use if that item's not on sale anywhere that week. But for coupon and sales fanatics, the Just for U deals aren't quite good enough.

I signed up and added the eggs but I have not been to Dominick's yet.

I signed up for it several weeks ago and got the free eggs. I just went today, though, and the cashier said I wasn't signed up. That's odd, since I logged in yesterday and saw all my deals, etc. In any case, I agree that it is confusing since the receipt doesn't really show what discount is from what, plus it's hard to keep track of.

Haven't tried it yet, when I logged on it said it wasn't available and to try again. I will log on right now again.

Haven't tried. Might not. The Dominicks closest to me is pretty dingy. Hello, Dominicks? I like to buy my food from clean stores.

I signed up, but didn't really see anything worth using just yet. The eggs are nice but I don't use eggs very often soooo...we'll see how things progress!

I used it for the first time yesterday and so far I love it. I got the free eggs and it took super coupons along witn the deals I had loaded.

i tried and so far no complaints. i dont really expect the personalized offers to be great, but the e-coupons are always good.

I'm all signed up and have used one Super Coupon, which was nice to have loaded and not have to find a hard copy. Don't like that you have to manually add each coupon to the card. Too time consuming.

I added as many as there were, but it took a long time. I doubt I'll even use most of them. I did get the eggs and bananas.

i wish the cashiers are more receptive of this program. When I redeemed my free eggs, my cashier was not thrilled that I got it for free and almost didn't let me walk out the door with it. lol.

I pick up my free eggs. I think it takes to long to go through and add offers. Then going to the store and trying to remember what is on ur card. more work then savings in my opinion.

Added it to my card and can't wait to pick up my free eggs

I have a just for you price of $1.54 for Motts Apple Juice that I have used with a coupon for $1.50 off the price of two. Most of my other prices are a little high. I don't like the extra time it takes me to check my offers against the ad. I do like the fact that I don't have to cut out my super coupons anymore.

I haven't heard of the program, but it sounds like it might be worth it, especially since you can stack the deals with manufacturers coupons.
