Second City: Free, Cheap and a New Way to Double Your Haiti Donation

secondcity.jpg

Certain things are so unfunny that even Second City can't wring any good material out of them. Like, than Haitian earthquake. Which is probably why SC is playing it straight and matching its audiences' donations to the Red Cross this week. Go see one of the participating shows and donate, and they'll match the donations at the end of the week.

And while we're on Second City, lookie here!

They're hosting free "Musical Improv Jams" on Saturdays through 2/27. That sounds really fun if you're musical at all.

Personally, I love improv games but am not a singer. Which is why I said, "Ooh!" at their other offer: On Valentine's Day, you can take a 2-hour regular improv class for just $10. I don't know how much they usually charge, but I'm sure it's more than that. "Just stop by the Second City Training Center office on February 14th any time before 6pm to sign up," according to the email they just sent me.

Seems like a cool way to avoid those "I don't have a date on Valentine's Day" or "I refuse to acknowledge a holiday taken over by Hallmark even if does have a very legitimate history" blues.
