Details on the new Jewel-Osco General Mills Catalina Deal: Potential Free Vegetables

greengiant.jpg

Like I said last night, there is a new General Mills Catalina deal at Jewel-Osco that is already active, and there are more details in today's ad. It's mostly the same stuff we have seen in so many Catalinas before: Chex Mix, cereal, Pillsbury rolls (heehee), cake mixes, etc. But it does include flour and frozen vegetables and I rarely pass up a chance to get such staples for close to free.

The deal says you buy $15 ore more in participating products and get a $5 coupon good on your next order. As always at Jewel, this means your total must be $15 BEFORE you scan your Preferred Card. If you buy only $15 worth of stuff in pre-card prices, then pay the Preferred price minus coupons, you'll get some good deals. See my detailed Catalina explanation if this is your first time.

Here are some of the participating items with the preferred card and pre-card prices, and below I'll lay out some potential good transactions.

Gold Medal Flour, 5 lbs. $2 (w/out card $3.25)

Green Giant 7-10 oz. frozen vegetables $1 (pre-card may be $2.33 according to Mashup Mom, but should be verified tomorrow when the new sale prices take effect)

Green Giant Steamers with Sauce or Selects 12 oz. $1.99 (pre-card $2.99)

Pepsi, Diet Pepsi, Mountain Dew 6-pack 24 oz. bottles $3.33 (pre-card $4.67)

Chex Mix $1.69 (pre-card $2.99)

For a full list of every participating product, see Couponers Wanted.

Transactions:

1. The Guzzler

three 6-packs Pepsi (I need Sierra Mist for certain choosy guests) $14.01 pre-card/$10 card

1 SoBe Life Water ? pre-card/$1 card

Original Total: at least $15.01 pre-card.

Coupons: $.25/1 Sobe printable or $.50/1 CVS tearpad

You pay $10.75 or $10.50 + tax, get $5 back -- $1.84 per 6-pack

2. Eat Your Veggies

Five Green Giant Valley Fresh Steamers 12 oz. $14.95 pre-card/$9.95 with card

One Green Giant 7 oz. box at least $1 pre-card/$1 w/ card

Original total: At least $15.95 pre-card

Coupons: five $.50/1 Steamers from Coupons.com -- $2.50

You pay $8.45, get $5 back -- 69 cents per bag of vegetables

Note: You can do much better with the smaller $1 boxes is the pre-card price is still $2.33: Buy 7 for $16.31, card price is $7, use three $.50/2 from Coupons.com or two $1/3 from the 11/22 SmartSource, and you should pay about $5 and get $5 back.

Hi Carrie - Like you, I'm still stocked pretty strong on these items, but I will be heading to Jewel (with coupons!) and then donate items to the food pantry in our neighborhood. Unfortunately, I can't do frozen items but there are enough other options to make it worth while.
