General Mills Catalina at Jewel-Osco 9/3-9/9 UPDATED WITH $1/1 COUPON

UPDATE 1: COUPON THAT COULD MAKE THIS DEAL A MONEYMAKER ADDED TO THE TEXT AFTER THE BREAK.

UPDATE 2: THIS DEAL DOES OVERLAP WITH A GRANOLA BAR/FRUIT SNACKS DEAL THRU 9/6, SEE DETAILS AFTER BREAK.

At this point I feel like begging Jewel-Osco and the Catalina Marketing company for a break. Don't you know I CAN'T stay home and put away laundry/process my rebate receipts/bathe when you keep offering all this free food via Catalina deals?

But my cries are unheard. The deals just keep coming. I heard from a Shaw's blogger that there was another General Mills deal coming to Jewel, but I thought maybe they were referring to the one we already had a couple weeks ago.

Nope. Here it is in today's flyer: Spend $20, get $5 coupon off your next order. Hunt4Freebies posted a full list of participating products, reportedly from someone on the forums at CouponersWanted.

And despite my exhaustion, I'm happy. Not because I want to force one more box of cereal into my basement pantry, but because last time they did a deal the Progresso soup wasn't on sale.

The ad shows Progresso at $1.67 card price, $2.87 regular (NOTE: A READER REPORTS THEY ARE ACTUALLY RINGING UP AT $1.89 AND THAT THE $25 IS CALCULATED ON THAT). Since those shopping this deal at Shaw's have already reported it works the way all/most Catalina deals do at Jewel (based on the pre-card price, not the card price), we'll assume you only have to buy 7 cans to get the $5 coupon. That's $11.69. If you managed to somehow print 7 of those $1/1 Progresso Qs before they ran out, you could pay $4.68 and get $5 back. More realistically, print two $1.10/3 from Coupons.com and use one $1/1, and you'll pay $8.49, get $5 back, and have your seven cans of soup for $3.49, or 50 cents a can.

There are also lots of other products included that have coupons on Coupons.com right now or did recently -- Green Giant vegetables, Pillsbury rolls. Should be fun, shoppers! Too bad the only yogurt included is Fiber One, though.

UPDATE: MONEYSAVING MOM JUST POSTED THIS LINK TO $1/1 FOR PILLSBURY GRANDS. Print them in a hurry -- valuable coupons like these often go quickly. Since the Grands are $1.25 card price, these coupons can help you get them for 25 cents. And since they're $2.23 pre-card price, you'd have to buy 9 of them to hit the $20 deal threshhold. If you are lucky enough to have 9 coupons (you can print 2 per computer), you'd pay only $2.25 for them and get $5 back. Or if you only have acces to one computer, print two and pair them with two $1/2 coupons from Coupons.com, giving you $4 off the $11.25 cost of buying 9 -- you pay $7.25 out of pocket and get $5 back.

See more coupon matchups from My Brain Is Inside Out, who shopped the deal at Shaw's. But keep in mind that our sale prices this week may be different.

A warning: according to that blog I just mentioned, you can only do this deal once per transaction.

Oh, and there IS be an overlapping deal with fruit snacks -- BUT ONLY THROUGH SUNDAY 9/6. Buy Betty Crocker Fruit Flavored Snacks; buy 3 and get a $1.50 coupon, buy 4 and get a $2.50 coupon, buy 5 or more, get a $3.50 coupon. These products aren't listed in the ad, but according to the full list, all kinds of Betty Crocker Fruit Snacks are part of the "get $5" Catalina. I don't know what they're priced at this week, but at Shaw's they were $2.99 pre-card, $2.50 with card. So if you bought 7 boxes the pre-card total would be over $20, but the card total would be only $17.50. Add in some of the many coupons out there for these, like at Coupons.com, Smartsource.com or in the 8/9 SmartSource. If you had seven $.40/1 Qs, that would take off $2.80, making your out-of-pocket expense $14.70, and you'd get $8.50 back. Seven boxes snacks for $6.20? Well, it's under a buck a box, but I have enough of these things that I've gotten for closer to free that I'm not going to go for it. This overlapping deal should also work with Nature Valley granola bars -- anyone know if the rewards are the same for buying the same number of boxes?

Do you know if there were any Progresso coupons in the Sunday paper inserts?

I don't believe there are any from the paper right now -- just printables.

I did the Progresso & Pillsbury today. The catalinas are based off of $1.89 price for Progresso. I learned that the hard way today, & had to get my order rerung after adding more. The manager wasn't too pleasant about it, but hey... I got my soup, biscuits, and catalina!
