Jewel-Osco -- Sales 8/20-27

jewelcart.jpg

There are reports out there of a new Con-Agra and Kellogg's Catalina deal -- apparently it started today at Shaw's which is part of the same chain as Jewel, so it may be working at Jewel as well. I haven't seen any advertising or confirmation of that, though, so buy at your own risk. If you try it and it works, though, PLEASE report your results in the comments here.

As for the real, published Jewel sales this week, I'm underwhelmed, but maybe I'm just jaded these days. There is a new Catalina offer that could net you some really cheap Huggies diapers -- scroll way down to the bottom of the post for that one.

THURS-SAT ONLY

Jennie-O frozen turkey breast 99 c/lb.

Chicken of the Sea Chunk Light Tuna 5 oz. 49 cents

Coke 2-L 87 cents

ALL WEEK

Meat sale: $1.99/lb. gets you pork chops, eye of round roast or boneless, skinless chicken breasts; $2.98/8 oz. gets you rib eye steak or tuna steak (love how they call it "wild tuna." Ever hear of a tuna farm?)

Driscoll's conventional strawberries $1.50/lb. (organic are $3)

Fresh Express salads, select 8-16 oz. $1

Ice Mountain water 6-pack 87 cents

Arm & Hammer detergent 55-68.75 oz. $3

peaches $1.28/lb; white peaches or nectarines $1.68/lb.

plums or pluots $1.68/lb.

green kiwi 34 cents

BUY ONE, GET ONE: Pepperidge Farm Goldfish @ $2.19; Thomas' English Muffins @ $2.99; Breyer's @ ?; 1 lb. Supreme Choice Bay Scallops @ ?; Louis Kemp Crab Chunks or Flakes 8 oz. @ ?;

Cheez-It crackers 13-16 oz. $2.50 (use .75/1 Q from Coupons.com)

Catalina deal: spend $20, get a $5 coupon plus 50 bonus Box Tops for Education. Looks like General Mills and then a bunch of paper products including Cottonelle, Scott and Huggies. I'm tempted to buy the Huggies -- buy the one Big Pack at $18.99 plus one box of Kleenex for $1.49, use a $3/1 Huggies Q if you have one (the Natural Care ones work on any variety), and you've paid $12.50 after the Catalina. According to the picture, there are 100 size 3 diapers in the "Big Pack," and according to Baby Cheapskate's chart, the price to beat for size 3 Huggies is 22 cents. So anything better than $22 for the pack would be a good deal -- $12.50 would be a GREAT deal. Besides, I've got a lot of Jewel Catalinas to burn through.

Finally, I was in the store tonight and saw that the Kraft 8 oz. cheese chunks are going to be on sale for $1.69 through Sunday, 8/23, when the Kraft promo ends. I forgot to check the price on the Mac & Cheese, but I woudln't be surprised if that 49 cent sale price lasts too. Don't take my word for it, though -- just a guess!
