Sunday Flyers, August 9

Good Morning! It's a hot day; why not sit inside in the air conditioning and clip coupons? Unless you are too cheap to have air conditioning. Then you can sit under a ceiling fan and watch your coupons get flown all over the room like I do.

1. This morning's coupon flyers.

I was excited to see a General Mills coupon insert in today's Sunday paper, since the Unilver $15/$30 Catalina deal is still going on though Wednesday and General Mills products are included. However, the coupons inside aren't that exciting; most of them are available at the same or better value on or in past flyers. The only ones I clipped are the $1/1 Nature Valley Nut Clusters and and the .50/1 Yo-Plus (I already used all the $1/1 ones I had printed online.)

If you are planning to do the Kraft $25 free food promo, there are several coupons that could help today: In Redplum thare are $1/2 Qs for Kraft Singles, Philly Cream Cheese, Kraft chunk cheese, Breakstone cottage cheese or sour cream and a $1/1 for Velveeta. There's also a $1/1 for a pint of Starbucks ice cream. I'm not sure if that's included in the deal, but if it is, those of you holding free pint coupons from the Facebook promo (now over) can really cash in. In SmartSource, there is a .50/1 Jell-O Pudding or Gelatin, $2/2 Kraft mayo$1/2 for Velveeta Shells & Cheese or Kraft Deluxe Mac & Cheese or Easy Mac, and a buy one, get one coupon for Velveeta Shells and Cheese cups. (Don't forget there is also a $1.50/2 printable for Kraft Deluxe Mac & Cheese or Velveeta Mac & Cheese and you should be able to print it twice per computer.)

2. The CVS Sales

Um, excuse me CVS? I can't seem to find the free school supplies in the flyer this morning. What's with that? It's like I don't even know you anymore! (Fortunately, free school supplies will be back next week with Phillips headphones, filler paper, pens and school boxes.)

Oh well, there are two deals worth doing: Jumbo packs Huggies diapers are 2/$18. But that's not a very good deal, you say! I could do better buying a huge value box.

Not really. First of all, CVS will pay you $4 ExtraBucks if you buy 2 packs. So that brings the price down to $7, a very good sale price. There are plenty of manufacturer's coupons out there, mainly from home mailers. I was lucky enough to receive a mailer when the new baby was born containing two $3/1 Qs. You might also have $3/1 coupons for the Pure & Natural variety, which I have not seen at CVS. Will those Qs work on regular Huggies? I don't know, but it's worth a try.

So that brings my Huggies purchase down to an unheard-of $4 a pack. But wait, there's more. I have a few of those $4/$20 coupons from booklets currently available in the pharmacy. Some CVSes are just leaving these booklets out on the counter so I always take one if I see a stack being offered. So once I add any old $2 purchase to my $18 in Huggies, I can take another $4 off. Let's assume that I really needed whatever I got for the $2 or I used a free product coupon for it. For instance, if you print two of these $1/1 coupons for Sharpie Accent Highlighters, you can get two packs free since they're on sale for 99 cents.) Then I can apply the whole $4 savings to my diapers, bringing them down to $2 a pack.

Whoo-hoo! The limit on these is one per card.

Oh, and by the way, you can also get a $5/$25 Q for taking this quiz online.

The other decent CVS offer this week is for Bic Soleil razors or cartridges, $3.99 after ECB (ExtraBucks). Limit 1. If you use the $3/1 coupon from today's SmartSource, it's $1. This is a good deal because although most brands will make the razor handles available for free after ECBs several times a year, gett the razors for free or very cheap is much less common. You know, free razor, sell the blades.

For all the CVS deals this week, check out I Heart CVS.

3. Walgreen's Deals.

There are a few free-after-register rewards deals for Colgate, Reach floss and Band-Aids, as well as some very cheap school supplies such as free Bic pens after coupon, 49-cent notebooks and 19-cent memo books. See all the Wag's deals on Money Saving Mom.

3. Other sale flyers.

  • Old Navy is offering a free comic book when you purchase a Marvel Collectabilitee for $10. Also, you can go here to "hunt" for printable coupons. They only offer a certain number each day though. Try first thing in the morning or maybe just after midnight?
  • Shoe Carnival has a coupon for an additional $5 off any purchase of $39.98 or higher; expires 9/1. Also a buy 1, get 1 half off sale.
  • Kmart has a coupon for $5 off school or office supplies, backpack, lunch kit or calculator purchase of $50 or more. Also a coupon for a free 10-pack of Dixon No. 2 pencils with any $15 school supply purchase.
  • In addition to the usual 40% off any regular item and 50% off custom framing order coupons, Michaels also has a 25% off ribbon coupon, good on regular OR sale price. (Sounds tempting! Dare I drag 3 kids into Michaels?)
  • Office Depot will give you a coupon for a free Dunkin Donuts small iced coffee if you spend $20 or more through 9/5, plus a coupon for 20% off at Foot Locker. Also, if you buy a 10-pack of Crayola markers for $1.99, they'll throw in a 24-pack of crayons for free (99 cent value).
  • At Office Max you can get that same Crayola 24-pack for 20 cents (limit 3), 70-sheet notebooks for 1 cent (limit 3), rulers for 5 cents (limit 3), 10-pack pencils 10 cents (limit 3).
  • Toys R Us' "Back 2 Cool" sale includes Crayola dollar days: four packs 24-count crayons for $1, 8-pack large washable crayons, scissors or colored pencils for $1, and numerous other products for $2, $3 and $4 each. There's also a sheet of coupons in the flyer, including 20% off kids' chairs, 15% off car seats, $3 off select formula cases, and $7 off when you buy a Pampers Value box and a Value Box of Pampers wipes. Finally, if you buy an Xbox 360 120GB Elite system for $400, you get a $50 gift card and a $19.99 Live Points Xbox card. There are also gift card offers for buying the Madden NFL 10 game or GI Joe products.

No CVS flyer here either & I was underwhelmed with the flyer anyway online. What about Staples - some good free stuff in mine - electric pencil sharpener! Bic pens $1 plus there is a coupon today for $0.50/2.

JenK, that's great! I'd love for other readers to post the deals they noticed in today's flyers.

Well - the electric pencil sharpener was already gone at Lawrence/Pulaski, but I did get 2 reams of printer paper for $1 each (after online rebate) plus the bic pens and a completely unnecessary, but free after rebate, label maker! An employee even helped me find each item so I was in and out of there in 10 minutes (great since I had the kiddos).
