It's time for another edition of Pick Six, where FBT interviews a nationally recognized Big Ten writer, broadcaster, or football expert to chat about a half-dozen topics. Today's guest is
Charissa Thompson of the Big Ten Network.
Charissa checked in with FBT from the injured list, as she's currently recovering from a broken foot and ankle. When healthy, her weekly college football duties include hosting
Big Ten's Best, contributing to
Friday Night Tailgate, and, of course, reporting from the sideline each Saturday for Big Ten football games.

With the introductions out of the way, let's jump right into the questions.
1. What are some of your favorite Big Ten football coaches or players to interview (maybe a top three) and why? What makes a great interviewee?Thompson: Joe Paterno. How can you not love Joe? Even if half the time, you know he doesn't want to answer any questions. (Especially at halftime!) Bret Bielema will always give you a good answer and is straightforward; he doesn't sugarcoat. Daryll Clark: I like to say "he gets it". Sometimes athletes don't; he does.

Time for another edition of "Pick Six", where FBT picks the brain of a nationally-recognized writer, broadcaster, expert, or other football personality about a half-dozen Big Ten football topics.
Today's guest is Big Ten Network studio host
Dave Revsine. Revsine anchors the network's pregame and postgame coverage each Saturday, hosts three of the
Football Four Pack shows on Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday nights (10 pm ET), and had the opportunity to see all eleven conference teams practice in person during BTN's preseason tour. You can visit his "Numbers" blog on the network's website
here.
With a quarter of the season now out of the way, we checked in with Revsine to get his impressions on the league so far.
Former Purdue standout Curtis Painter found out today that he has made the Indianapolis Colts roster for the 2009 season. While the anxious rookie was waiting and hoping his cell phone
wouldn't ring at the eleventh hour, he was kind enough to talk football for a few minutes with First and Big Ten. Without further ado, it's the latest edition of Pick Six...
It's time for another edition of Pick Six, where FBT interviews a nationally recognized writer, broadcaster, or football expert to chat about a half-dozen conference topics. Today's guest is
Bruce Feldman, a senior writer at ESPN The Magazine.
In addition to his work at the magazine, Bruce Feldman writes a
college football blog on ESPN.com
(Insider access required) and has published two books. His latest book,
Meat Market, gives a behind-the-scenes in-depth look at what the year-round college football recruiting process is really like. For those of you who are trying to figure out why Ole Miss is a preseason Top-10 team, Meat Market and its stories of then-coach Ed Orgeron stockpiling talent in Oxford is a must read.
With the introduction out of the way, we'll jump right into the questions.
Ready for a new feature?
As the start of the 2009 season draws closer, FBT will periodically host short interviews on the blog to get an outside perspective on Big Ten football. Every new edition of "Pick Six" will shed light on a half-dozen conference topics, picking the brain of a different nationally-recognized writer, broadcaster, expert, or other football personality each time.
And without further ado, "Pick Six" debuts today as Sports Ilustrated writer (and Northwestern graduate) Stewart Mandel drops by FirstandBigTen.com.
