Ten by Ten: Results and Winners for Week 1

One week is in the books for the college football season - and it's already been a roller coaster ride, including in the Big Ten where a number of teams escaped by the skin of their teeth.

As for the Ten by Ten contest, the results are in and while the FBT trio has had better days of prognostication, there were three standouts from our participants.

We would like to honor Molly Cary, Phil Corbett and Mark Milano for their performances during last week, where each received 70 points by answering 7 out of 10 correctly.

Here's a recap of the 10 questions for Week 1:
1. Predict the winner: Toledo at Purdue
    Purdue 52, Toledo 31 Final

2. Predict the winner: Navy at Ohio State
    Ohio State 31, Navy 27 Final

3. Predict the winner: Western Michigan at Michigan
    Michigan 31, Western Michigan 7 Final

4. Predict the winner: Minnesota at Syracuse
    Minnesota 23, Syracuse 20 Final OT

5. Predict the winner: Missouri vs. Illinois (at St. Louis)
    Missouri 37, Illinois 9 Final

6. Which Big Ten defense will force the most turnovers this week?
    Ohio State, Michigan and Purdue (3)

7. Which Big Ten quarterback will lead the league in passing yards this week?
    Daryll Clark (Penn State) - 353 yards

8. Which Big Ten team will kick the longest field goal this week?
    Purdue (Carson Wiggs) - 59 yards

9. Which Big Ten player will have the most sacks this week?
    Greg Jones (Michigan State) - 1 ½ sacks

10. Which Big Ten player will have the most tackles this week?
    Greg Jones (Michigan State) - 14 tackles

Again, congrats to Molly, Phil and Mark on a job well done!  

Please note that going forward we will feature a tiebreaker so that there's only one winner per week.  However, for Week 2, we will feature picks and thoughts from the aforementioned trio, as well as Kevin, Kristofer and Tim from FBT.  

In addition, the current Ten by Ten standings and next week's picks can be found via the tags on the First and Big Ten home page - they'll be posted ASAP.
