Standup producer Mark Geary gets his head together before a show on his Yankin' It UK tour.

As I mentioned a few weeks ago, famed Chicago alt-comedy room The Lincoln Lodge has begun its 10th season.*  I checked in with producer Mark Geary to find out how the shows were rolling and what makes him so darn prolific.

Q: What do you think is the most important quality of a successful producer?
Integrity - you have to do what you say you are going to do in 100% of the time in order to set the example for everybody else connected with the show.

Q: Have any moments from the season stuck out so far in terms of awesome?
International comedy star Brendon Burns dropped by for a guest set last Friday.

Q: Are you more likely to book a comic who wear boxers, briefs, or a thong?
I look at the artist, not the underwear. The only thing I won't tolerate is sock garters - that sort of attitude belongs back in the 1950s.

The Lincoln Lodge runs Thursday and Friday nights at 9 PM in the kitschy, diner-ific back room at the Lincoln Restaurant.
*In the interest of full disclosure, I am a cast member at The Lincoln Lodge.
