Ugly Holiday Sweaters Make for a Warm Community Meetup

Mike Doyle

Since 2005 scribe of the local blog, Chicago Carless. I invite you to visit.

uglytop2Last night's Ugly Christmas Sweater Holiday Party was a huge success! Organized by Windy Citizen editor & publisher Brad Flora and sponsored by more than two dozen Chicago bloggers (including Chicagosphere and Chicago Carless), almost 100 of you--our readers, friends, loved ones, and fellow bloggers--came out to Black Rock Bar in Roscoe Village on a frigid night.

What a surprisingly big, fat, warm, community love-fest we had! Our warm back room with two fireplaces blazing was packed with crazy sweaters, waist-killing appetizers, good drink, and above all great cheer. Thanks to all who attended. You should browse the official follow-up thread on WindyCitizen with stories and photos from the bash.

My boyfriend, Overly Frank, and I loved the time we spent with (links are to Twitter) awesome nonprofit writer Emily Culbertson, Chicago Now Job Stalker Brendan Tripp, the ebullient Feast of Fun duo of Fausto Fernos & Marc Felion, Loud Loop Press editor Richard Giraldi, freelance mega-writer Dawn Reiss, What's A Boy To Do blogger Michael Lehet, Urbanophile Aaron Renn & southern-charming interior designer Michelle Osburn Renn, the Funsherpa crew, the awfully cute team of blogger queen Blagica Bottigliero & Windy City wine king Michael Bottigliero, and many more too numerous to mention in one blog post.

Kudos to Brad Flora for pulling off such a wonderful event in such a short time frame. And Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays to all! We definitely should do it again sometime...
