Gallery 75 - IceHogs Top Rivermen in Pre-Season Shoot Out

Kris Gray

I feel blessed to be able to combine my love of photgraphy with my love of hockey. Raised in a family that avidly followed the sports of Pro Wrestling, Roller Derby, Nascar and the Chicago Bears.

Netminder, Danny Battochio, appears to be a big fan of The Dark Knight's. Battochio replaced IceHogs' Joe Palmer in goal with 8 minutes left in the 2nd period.

The IceHogs played their first pre-season game on Tuesday in Rockford against the Peoria Rivermen, defeating the Rivermen in a Shoot Out 5-4.

In looking over the rosters, not many players at this point in time are very familiar. With a lot of players still recalled to the Chicago Blackhawks, it's still uncertain how many of last season's IceHogs players will remain with the Blackhawks and who will be assigned to Rockford. IceHogs' Training Camp just opened this past Sunday September 25th, while the Blackhawks Camp opened on September 18th.

IceHog Zack Torquato introduced himself to the fans in a big way during the game. He scored two goals during regulation play and then scored an additional goal during the Shoot Out. The 21 year old Ontario native signed a AHL contract with the IceHogs this past July. This will be his first professional season. Welcome to Rock Vegas Zack!

The next pre-season game is scheduled for Friday October 1st at 7:05pm at the Metro Centre in Rockford against the Milwaukee Admirals. The IceHogs open their season at home on October 9th. They have planned a Fan Fest for prior to the game to help kick off the season.
