I'm nuts just ask anybody.

The news came as a shock to many Blackhawk fans that the Hawks were simply walking away form Stanley Cup winning goalie Antti Niemii and signing 10 year veteran and Marty Turco to a 1 year deal.

Stan Bowman Blackhawks General Manager stated  that it was "In the best interest of the franchise, for the short term and the long term. You have to have the flexibility  within your roster. The cap situation once again has been well documented here.  This was the best way to approach the team as we prepare for October."

Antti Niemi is now a free agent able to negotiate with any team in the National Hockey League, Europe or Russia.  Considering that Stanley Cup ring on his signing hand this 26 year old should do well.
