Three for Thursday

It's my job to write about Chicago and all of its people, places and things. If it's new and it's cool, I'm checking it out.

Join The Chaser at Jbar from 6 to 9 tonight for the "Media Mavens" installment of the Diva Series.

Did I ever tell you Thursday is my favorite night out? There's always something to do, but without the fun! fun! fun! pressure of a Friday or Saturday. And yet, all that delicious weekend anticipation remains intact. If you happen to celebrate a tad too late, it's a good excuse to take a personal day and enjoy a spontaneously expanded weekend.

Fine, enough rhapsodizing about days of the week. Here are my plans for tonight, and I don't mind one bit if you totally copy me and come along.

First stop: The lovely Sarah Vargo, founder of publicity and promotions firm Maven, hosts the "Media Mavens" installment of her popular Diva Series tonight at Jbar. A long list of Chicago women in media and PR (including, of course, your very own Chaser) will be honored for their all-around fabulosity from 6PM to 9PM. Anyone is welcome to stop by for networking, small bites and cocktail specials. RSVP to sarah@maven-chicago.com.

Next up: Just a few blocks away at Lasalle Power Co., a massive Unite 4 Haiti benefit from 6PM to 10PM will feature music by Chicago DJs Sye Young, Dante the Don, Matt Roan, Rock City, Jordan V and Alex Rage. The $20 cover gets you drinks from a bar hosted by Dragon Bleu Vodka and Bottle Green Cordial. Celeb guest bartenders, dance performances, a silent auction and NBC-5's Natalie Martinez on M.C. duty round out the festivities. All proceeds benefit Doctors Without Borders.

Final destination: At 11PM, Sofia Vintage Clothing & Accessories presents the "Live Lovely" spring trends fashion show at the Underground. The vintage duds will be modeled by a group of "Chicago's savviest style icons," a.k.a. a bunch of people (and friends) who just happen to--you guessed it--work in media and PR. Love you, guys. ;) Get there early for the Effen-sponsored bar from 9PM to 10PM. RSVP to travis@theundergroundchicago.com.

It's a shamelessly River North-centric lineup, I know. I really need to branch out over the weekend, so feel free to make some non-club suggestions for me to try in the comments section below. Oh, and what are you up to for Super Bowl Sunday? Anyone know who's playing?
