The hottest NFL rumor this morning involves the Chicago Bears and Buffalo Bills wide receiver Terrell Owens.
Terrell Owens to Bears?: ESPN floats rumor
The origin actually appears to be ESPN's NFL Rumors page and the idea has gathered plenty of steam since, appearing on multiple blogs, Twitter, and elsewhere.
ESPN's Adam Schefter said it makes sense for Buffalo to consider trading T.O. now that it's fallen to 1-4 after an ugly 6-3 home loss to the Cleveland Browns. Now is the chance for the team to get something in return by dealing him to a contender.
Others are assessing the idea of the trade and weighing in:

Bears fans - do you want T.O.? Jay Cutler and Terrell Owens could make quite a combination, but we all know about T.O.'s past. Thoughts?
Disclaimer: I am originally from Buffalo and a Bills fan! And I wouldn't mind this one bit. You can have him.

As a lifelong Bears fan I say: NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!
We don't need his mouth and ability to distract. We are not the Eagles - we have integrity and shouldn't get players to win at any cost (a la Vick). Keep him in Buffalo or anywhere but Chicago.

Interesting you say that. He seems to be on decent behavior so far this year. He wants to win and he wants to play for a contender.
As someone who is not a fan of the Bears, I see many ways he could help you guys and compete with Minnesota for the division title. Definitely something to at least give some thought.

I will concede he has skills, but again, do the costs outweigh the benefits? Sure, he has held it together lately, but just barely from the interviews I have seen. I still think it's a big mistake.

Could be. No question, it would be a big risk. One that could blow up and backfire. One that could also work out; who knows?

If indeed the Bears are looking for a receiver, there must be someone else out there who is available and less drama-prone. I'm glad this story is just a rumor at this point....

And it might never be more than a rumor. Just last night, some blogs and media outlets said the Bills were not interested in trading T.O., but things evolve quickly in the NFL, especially when you're 1-4 and have yet to make any changes.

Our WRs are learning to play with Cutler and doing a great job! We do not need any distractions! Knox, Hester, and Bennett are good enough! Cutler also has Olsen and Forte as great targets! We need to spend more money on the O-line to protect Cutler.

Good point. Why disrupt the chemistry too?

hester, knox and bennett are hardly enough imo. we need a playmaker. I think it's worth the risk.
Craig Kanalley said:
That's my thought too overall, though I can see where AiKnight is coming from too. Obviously a risk, but yeah, I agree with you.

Bringing in TO would disrupt the chemistry and change everything as we head quickly toward the middle of the season. Bringing TO to the Bears is a huge mistake and one I hope they do not make.

This being ESPN, they may just be spreading rumors to increase ratings as they are known to do. But seriously, it would be a HUGE mistake to bring the team cancer known as TO to the Bears.
Did another Chicago team not learn their lesson this season as to what happens when you bring in someone with decent stats but a horrible attitude?
