Black Jack

Where are you Carlos Quentin?

I got to see first hand how losing one of your hitters can completely disable a lineup this year at the High School level.

Our team finished the season with a 16-11 record. We began the year 6-1 and on a roll. We lost our #3 hitter to a broken finger and a week later our #5 hitter to a broken thumb.

For five weeks we were a miserable team, never being able to get over the hump.  We struggled through a 2-7 stint! Our guys got healthy and we finished the season strong with an 8-3 record with all three losses coming in extra innings. We just were a different team at full strength.

Hopefully the White Sox can stay around long enough for Carlos Quentin to come back and be productive. And it's not necessarily about carrying a team but rather adding an option during a game that consistently drives in runs!

The White Sox have been within one big hit for the past two weeks of having put together a great run that may just have propelled them to the top of the division. With that many one run losses (5 in their last six) having just one more bat will make all the difference.

One more bat and everyone else gets better. One more bat and the Sox might be just where they want to be.
