Ask Wale: Remembering Spanish class at IU, Super Bowl chatter and the Section 120 salute

Adewale Ogunleye

I play defensive end for the Chicago Bears.

E-mail me here. I will be answering your questions about the Bears and life in the NFL every week on my blog.

Hi Wale. I hope all is well with you. I have to say that I never would have imagined my partner in Spanish Class at IU would end up being my favorite player to watch on Sunday. It is so cool to see you out there doing your thing with my hometown team, the Bears. My roommates from school often ask me if I kept in touch with you and I regrettably say no each time. I heard about your blog and figured I would drop you a line to say hello and keep up the outstanding work of being a great football player and a wonderful role model for all of today's youth and fans. You certainly have made a lot of people proud. Take care of yourself and good luck this weekend.

PS- The only game I can make this year at IU will be the oaken bucket. Hopefully we can take the boilers to the house!

Hope to hear from you. - Rob, Valparaiso, IN

WALE SAYS: Que paso Rob. Long time....... great picture. Beautiful family. When I grow up I want to be just like you. Man I miss those days. IU was great times. We took all those classes and what do we have to show for it......one phrase..... Que paso? For everyone reading this blog, Rob used to cheat off me in spanish class. LOL Just kidding. Anyway, thanks for the kind words. I pray your boys grow big and we will be watching them play for IU one day. Go IU!!!!

WOW! What a game! I'm so happy for Da Bears and so proud of you for being Player of the Game. The "D" looks like we can make a difference this year and we have great promise with the offense with Cutler, Hester (hope he's ok), Bennett, Olsen, Forte, Knoxville (his 102 yd. return was awesome!!) and da entire "O". Having attended the XLI Super Bowl, I'm wondering what your thoughts are as far as what makes this team different and how each of you talk about making this season one where we can take the championship home? You and everyone else makes us fans very proud!! GO BEARS!!

Thank you for responding to the fans & thank you for all you do! - Marcy

WALE SAYS: Well Marcy.... We just try to take one game at a time. With that said, I think we have the right tools to take it all the way back to Miami and win it. Its still early and we have a lot to improve on but I think we are headed in the right direction. Thanks for being a great fan.

Hey Wale,

I appreciate your play from the last couple years and have always been a big fan. I am a season ticket holder in Section 120, fourth row and have always enjoyed that you come right up to that section during the pre-game introductions and give us a salute. Is there any special reason that you are the only one to come to the far side away from the team's sideline? We do appreciate it and I take pride in our section being the loudest in the stadium. Keep up the good work and I'll see you next home game! - Casey Boguslaw

Great question. I have no idea why I am the only one who runs over there but I love it. I think it may have to do with the fact that the visitors side is over there and guys don't want to get flagged for taunting as we run down the field. That section gets me pumped up. You guys get so loud. Please keep it up.
