My Blackhawks-Sharks Prediction

Alex Quigley

Former rock DJ, currently a multipurpose Chicago media guy.

First off, I'd like to direct your ears to this excellent discussion with Mike Kiley and Tab Bamford alongside cohost Amy Guth and myself on WGN's ChicagoNow Radio. Two guys who know much more about hockey than me give their take on the Hawks' chances against San Jose.

Now that you've got that playing in the background, let me give my prediction....

Blackhawks in five.

Yep, I chose to use a Home Alone reference. Don't care.

I just don't see a way that the Sharks will keep up with the Hawks' team speed and third- and fourth-line depth. True, the Hawks won the season series 3-1 by winning two overtime games, but the Hawks considerably outshot the Sharks over the four games and the Blackhawks have upgraded at goalie since those four games.

If they win in six, oh well. Wouldn't be surprised. But I would be surprised if San Jose stretched it to seven, let alone won.

Hey, maybe I'll be wrong. But I've been precisely correct so far with the Preds and Canucks. I wouldn't mind being partially wrong. And I can't wait for 2pm Sunday.

Hawks in 6. Sharks win today, then Hawks win three straight. Sharks again, then Hawks close it out.
