Lunch is delicious, especially on the weekends. It’s important to know where to go for a good lunch, that will satisfy your craving, won’t let you leave disappointed and will make your weekend, or at least add to it. The following 7 restaurants offer an excellent lunch for different occasions and are not to be missed.
Nico Osteria: If you’re a ‘booth person,’ meaning you love sitting in a booth when dining, this is your jam. Located on Rush in the ‘Viagra Triangle,’ Nico offers a light and creative Italian menu with fresh pastas, salads and sandwiches. The atmosphere is aesthetically pleasing and IMO the place to sit is in a booth, by the window, so you can look out at the hustle and bustle that is Rush street, let the sunlight shine in and enjoy. The caesar salad and carbonara are my favorites. Share it with your lunch mate, it’s perfect.
Cafe Robey: Located on the first floor of The Robey, the cafe is shiny and bright during the day. With it’s petite setting, long, wide windows and casual seating, the cafe presents the perfect invitation. With a weekend brunch menu, there is something for everyone and you can explore the rest of the hotel once you’re done.
Little Bad Wolf: This cozy neighborhood bar located in Andersonville offers quite the eclectic menu and one that delivers. Head to the Wolf for baos, substantial salads, freshly baked chips and guac and three burgers of your choosing. Up for a challenge? Take down the Wolf burger that comes with three patties, plus bacon.
Ema: White-brick walls, massive windows, and overly bright makes for a very clean, yet refreshing atmosphere. If Mediterranean cuisine will satisfy your craving, Ema is the right choice. Order the hummus, share a few kebabs while sipping on some Greek wine. It makes for a very fresh and relaxing experience.
Beatrix: There are three locations and they are all equally wonderful. If you are looking for something fresh, crisp and healthy Beatrix is exactly where you belong. The ceasar salad with croutons, capers and a greek yogurt dressing is fantastic and their freshly squeezed juices are delicious. Bea is consistent, wonderful and fresh. Oh and Rahm eats here too.
Furious Spoon: It’s getting colder and we all need that go-to place to grab a warm bowl of ramen to slurp on to get us through the winter. Furious is quite straight forward – come in, order a beer or a Mexican coke, choose your ramen, and when it arrives put your head down and start slurping. You can watch the cooks making the ramen noodles fresh too, so you know this place is legit.
RL Restaurant: This chic River North restaurant that is attached to the Polo Ralph Lauren store is beautifully decorated with impressive artwork and a horse-and-saddle decor. It’s a place to see and be seen if that’s your thing, or the perfect place to dine as you are shopping Michigan Avenue on a Saturday afternoon. My go-to is the cobb, it’s satisfying in every way and if you want to cheat a little, get a side of fries.
