Memorial Day marks the unofficial start of summer in the United States, or what I like to call the start of cultural summer. In contrast, meteorological summer starts June 1. Astronomical summer begins with the Summer Solstice, which occurs on June 21 this year.
To tweens, of course, the summer starts the second the bell rings on the last day of school. Whenever summer starts, it’s a season full of joy and promise and sun, as captured by these quotes about summertime.
