In recent years, I have looked forward to the summer months. This year seemed a bit different. I wanted to make it special. I wasn’t sick nor was I feeling morbid. I just wanted to enjoy the season as fully as I could afford to. I wanted to spend this summer as if it was my last.
Mary Schmich, from the Chicago Tribune, wrote a beautiful article about a woman who is probably going to experience her last summer this year. It was a sad article yet it made me happy that this woman was able to enjoy her summer.
I wanted to spend this summer as if it was my last. I didn’t spend a lot of money, but it was definitely memorable. This summer gave me the gift of daily Mass, reading great books, a newly discovered creativity and reconnecting with my family. Hopefully, I’ll be around next summer, too and that one will be even better than this one.
How was your summer?
