Touring Chicago's beautiful churches: The National Shrine of St. Francis Xavier Cabrini

The eighth church in my series, Touring Chicago’s beautiful churches, is The National Shrine of Saint Francis Xavier Cabrini.  Out of all the churches we’ve been to so far, this shrine was the one that impacted my husband and I the most emotionally as well as spiritually.

My husband and I were given a tour by Sr. Bridget Zanin, MSC, director of the shrine, before we attended the 4 PM Saturday Mass.  Sr. Bridget knows Mother Cabrini’s life well and the stories she told about this American citizen saint and Patroness of Immigrants held my husband and I spellbound.

The National Shrine of Saint Francis Xavier Cabrini is located at 2520 N. Lakeview Ave. in Chicago.  Limited parking is available. Their phone number is (773) 360-5115.  The Shrine is closed on Mondays.

The shrine is not supported by the archdiocese of Chicago.  You may donate to the shrine at any time here.  You can follow the shrine’s updates on Facebook here.

Don’t miss this one.  It’s a true Chicago treasure.
