How do you evangelize?

How do you evangelize?  Do you wave a bible in someone’s face?  Do you quote scripture in every conversation?  Do you tout the Catholic Church at every opportunity?

Before I converted, any of the above techniques was an immediate turn off for me.  The people who were attempting to get me to know Jesus were just heads with mouths moving. I would turn the sound off, smile weakly and nod my head in bobble head fashion.

After my conversion, I never had the guts to just spout off about my new found faith. If someone asked me it would be like an accelerant thrown on the flame. I would excitedly tell them what had happened to me.  I’ve calmed down quite a bit since then.

But it does beg the question, “How do you evangelize?”

Mother Angelica once said two things that reverberate in me:

“You may be the only Jesus your neighbor will ever see.”

“This world is never going to see the Good News by reading the Good Book.  Because they won’t read it.  They are only going to see it when you live it.”

 Now go out and evangelize!
