Cardinal George Refused Communion to a Gay Activist

Cardinal George refused Communion to a gay activist, but the lesbian cantor gave it to him anyway.  Yes you read that right.

Joe Murray, is the activist who was refused.  He is the founder of the US Rainbow Sash Movement and attended the Archdiocesan’s Gay and Lesbian Outreach’s (AGLO) 25th anniversary liturgy held at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel in Chicago on Sunday, June 16.  Brenna C. Cronin is the cantor who gave it to him.

Where do I begin?

  1. Once a Cardinal (or priest) refuses anyone Holy Communion, no one should take it upon themselves to distribute it.  If Brenna Cronin is not a commissioned Extraordinary Minister of Communion (and I don’t think she is) she had no business giving the Host to anyone.
  2. Joe Murray obviously has an agenda and it’s not being Catholic.  His rude behavior during Mass (see below) showed his true intent.  (Note to publicity-seeking CINOs:  please do not use Our Lord in the Holy Eucharist for your own agenda, i.e. Nancy Pelosi, Joe Biden, etc.)

Why would Joe Murray attend this Mass?  Why would he keep his back toward the Cardinal?  Why would he expect to receive Communion after doing that?  AGLO’s Mission Statement is pretty clear:

We, the members of the Archdiocesan Gay and Lesbian Outreach, as people of God, create a sense of community for those who wish to reconcile their sexual orientation with their faith; provide an accepting and affirming atmosphere in which to worship in the Catholic tradition; provide opportunities for integration of personal experience through spiritual growth; share our distinctive gifts with each other and the Church at large, and witness our Catholic faith to the gay and lesbian community.
