Palm Sunday

Today’s Palm Sunday’s Gospel, Matthew 26:14-27:66 or 27:11-54 (NAB) has a lot of stuff going on.  First we have the plot to kill Jesus, then the anointing at Bethany, Judas’ agreement to betray Jesus, the Passover meal with the disciples, the Lord’s Supper, Peter’s denial foretold, Jesus praying in Gethesmane, Jesus’ betrayal and arrest, Jesus before the High Priest and Peter’s denial of Jesus.

Then the readings go into Jesus being brought before Pilate, the suicide of Judas and Jesus’ crucifixion and death.
Usually the priest will ask everyone to sit during this long Gospel.  Ours forgot, but apologized for the oversight.

So today, after Mass, take the time to re-read the Gospel and meditate about it instead of being bored and thinking about your back or feet hurting.

Or in my case, since we went to church last night, I was thinking about dinner and hoping no one heard my stomach growling!
