In spite of me being a totally cool rebellious musician, I have never smoked weed in my entire life. But the recently departed Sandra Bland did, and apparently CNN thought it was big news. Such big news, in fact, that they reported on the fact that marijuana was in Sandra’s system at the time of her death at the same time that they reported on her death being ruled a suicide.
That pissed me off.
The same news vilifying Sandra Bland for having weed in her system today were reporting on its widespread legalization a couple months ago.

I am not going to point out the crass, unscrupulous manner in which CNN chose to present this information about Sandra Bland. I’m not going to comment on how disgusting it is to sensationalize this information in the midst of national outcry over her death. I’m not even going to inquire about why Sandra Bland smoking marijuana is national news. Nope. Instead, I am gonna point out the hella instances in which CNN’s reporting has been pro-weed use and legalization.
And I’d like to point out that CNN aired an hour long special about weed.
Actually, they did more than one hour long specials about weed…
They did three. They did three full hour long specials about weed.
Just wanted to put that out there. RIP Sandra Bland.
