Week 6 NFL Game Preview: Jacksonville Jaguars at Chicago Bears

Week 6 NFL Game Preview: Jacksonville Jaguars at Chicago Bears
Left (Jaguars DB Jalen Ramsey) and right (Bears LB Willie Young) are two key defensive players that will be counted on to make big plays in this Sunday's Week 6 matchup.

Two last place teams will go head-to-head at Soldier Field on Sunday.

The 1-3 Jacksonville Jaguars make a visit to Chicago to face the 1-4 Bears. It marks the second consecutive week that the Bears will battle an AFC South opponent.

This series doesn’t go too far back as it will be only the seventh all-time meeting between the two interconference foes. The Bears have won two straight matchups including a 41-3 blowout win in 2012.

Blake Bortles enters his third NFL season and it hasn’t been pretty so far, but the potential is always there for him and this offense.

For the Bears, Brian Hoyer will start his fourth straight game with Jay Cutler (right thumb) on the mend.

Here’s what both teams will have on their mindsĀ  heading into this Week 6 game.

What the Jaguars are thinking

The playmakers need to get the ball in their hands more often for the Jaguars. Wide recievers Allen Robinson and Allen Hurns can make plays at any point and so can versatile running back T.J. Yeldon.

Jacksonville has bruiser Chris Ivory, but with Bortles likely passing it more often than not, you should expect to see Yeldon out there often.

Defensively, linebacker Paul Posluszny continues to flourish as a key veteran for this unit. First round pick Jalen Ramsey has looked very good in the secondary and the Jaguars get top cornerback Aaron Colvin back this week.

Former Broncos star defensive end Malik Jackson has one sack this season while third round pick Yannick Ngakoue is showing up every week with a team-best three sacks and three forced fumbles.

The Jaguars are still young, but they have serious talent on defense. This could be the week where they put it all together against a banged up Bears squad.

What the Bears are thinking

Jordan Howard, Jordan Howard, Jordan Howard. Get him the ball all day long.

Offensive coordinator Dowell Loggains has a gem in fifth round rookie Howard and to get him his third straight 100-yard rushing game, feeding him throughout the day will be key.

Howard is the key mismatch in this one against a beatable Jacksonville run defense. Wide receivers Cameron Meredith and Eddie Royal and tight end Zach Miller will get their looks, but will Alshon Jeffery?

The Bears need to include their top wide receiver more than they have the past three weeks.

On defense, continuing to bring pressure will help a bit as Willie Young is fresh off a three-sack performance. Jonathan Bullard earned his first career sack last week and Akiem Hicks has a sack in back-to-back games.

The secondary needs to improve and it will be interesting to see if second-year safety Harold Jones-Quartey earns back John Fox’s trust after being benched last week in favor of journeyman Chris Prosinski.

Final Score Prediction

Bears 24, Jaguars 20

The Bears will pound the rock with Jordan Howard and put up enough points to beat the visiting Jaguars.

Season prediction record: 2-3
