Week 13 NFL Power Rankings, Chicago Bears Edition

Here are the Week 13 power rankings from various sites around the web:

ESPN: #14 (Last week: #10)

Analysis, “Josh McCown has the best Total QBR among qualified quarterbacks this season (81.0), just like everyone predicted when Jay Cutler went down.”

NFL.com: #14 (Last week: #11)

Analysis, “Injuries in the middle of the defense are just destroying the Bears’ season. In a 42-21 shellacking of Chicago, the Rams rang up 258 rushing yards. That is a huge number in this era of pass, run, pass. Even the Jags’ run defense is better this season. (Dude, that is saying something.) The Bears now have allowed 1,597 yards on the ground in 2013. That is a HUGE number. Still, at 6-5, Chicago is right there in the NFC North race.”

FOX Sports: #15 (Last week: #9)

Analysis, “The Bears have now given up 40-or-more points three times this season. In Lovie Smith’s nine seasons as head coach, the Bears gave up 40-or-more points just four times.”

CBS Sports: #15 (Last week: #11)

Analysis, “The defense can’t stop the run, and they head into Minnesota vs. Adrian Peterson. AD could rush for more than 200 yards and beat this team. Good news for Chicago, though: Minnesota’s secondary can’t cover all Bears’ receiving weapons. Things could be slipping away for Chicago, which is 2-3 over its past five.Josh McCown is as fine a backup QB as there is in the NFL. He can win games and I can’t say that for most backups. The injuries on defense are going to be a problem.”

Yahoo Sports: #13 (Last week: #11)

Analysis, “The Lions are trying to give them the division. On Sunday, they just refused to take it.”

Pro Football Talk: #17 (Last week: #13)

Analysis, ” Unless Jay Cutler can tackle running backs, it won’t matter when he returns.”

Best ranking: #13 – Yahoo Sports

Worst ranking: #17 – Pro Football Talk

Quote Of The Day

Bears quarterback Jay Cutler discussing his status for the remainder of the season and what it takes to be more than a good player each and every snap.

“”You can be a good player, you can have all these attributes, but if you’re not available each Sunday, if you’re not there for (the coaches) to put you in, it doesn’t matter,” he said. “That’ll get you kicked out of this league faster than getting in trouble off the field.”
