Week 12 NFL Power Rankings, Chicago Bears Edition

Here are the Week 12 power rankings from various sites around the web:

ESPN: #10 (Last week: #11)

Analysis, “Josh McCown deserved the win, especially considering the conditions. McCown was 6-of-10 deeper than 10 yards downfield, including a big 43-yard throw to Martellus Bennett on the winning drive.”

NFL.com: #11 (Last week: #11)

Analysis, “Clutch overtime victory at home for the Bears. Once again, Matt Forte’s ability in both the ground and passing attack played a huge role. “Deuce-deuce” ran for 83 yards on 18 carries and caught five passes for 42 more — 14 of which came on a go-ahead touchdown in the fourth quarter. Forte might have his flaws, and he might not be the best back in the league, but Chicago doesn’t win without him.”

FOX Sports: #9 (Last week: #10)

Analysis, “Is there a QB controversy in Chicago?”

CBS Sports: #11 (Last week: #10)

Analysis, “Josh McCown is as fine a backup QB as there is in the NFL. He can win games and I can’t say that for most backups. The injuries on defense are going to be a problem.”

Yahoo Sports: #11 (Last week: #11)

Analysis, “The Lions have the easier remaining schedule and the tiebreaker, but the Bears aren’t going away despite a pretty bad defense.”

Pro Football Talk: #13 (Last week: #16)

Analysis, “Josh McCown will soon have as many career wins as Cade McNown.”

Best ranking: #9 – Fox Sports

Worst ranking: #13 – Pro Football Talk

Quote Of The Day

Bears quarterback Josh McCown on how the Bears are right in the thick of things in the NFC North with a win and a Detroit loss this past week.

“My dad always says, ‘that thing is oblong and bounces funny’. So every time this happens, I always think about that. You never know from week to week in this league. It is what it is, where we are right now. We just have to get ready for St. Louis and take care of that – nothing beyond that. You don’t know what is going to happen – all you can do is play the game in front of you. So the most important game for us in the world right now is St. Louis and that’s the one we have to focus on.”
