Road tripping the diabetic way

You will notice there will be no blogs tomorrow on and Friday.  I am taking a sort ill planned road trip to Iowa and most likely will not have time to write.  It did make think of a good blog idea though and that is road tripping as a diabetic.

The trip to Iowa will most likely take 6 hours, in my world that is a long long long time to sit in a car.  So there is no doubt I will pull off along the way to get a good stretch in.  I also have to think of maintaining my diabetes.  I will have to have some sort of sugar in the car in case I go low.  I will have to pull off to test and most likely eat some sort of fast food.

I have taken many road trips in my life but I never really worried about how it affected diabetes.  So this will be a learning experience for me. Which is what I am hoping for, if you have read this blog for a while you know that this has been a rough year for me.  I want to take the time driving to reflect on my life so far.  To think about where I have been and where I am going.

I am hoping for an adventure.  I am hoping for a few good stories.  I want to do this to learn about myself.  I have never really done anything like this before.  I am nervous and excited at the prospect and in the end I think it will be worth it.

I am looking forward to learning how to control while living in a car for 12 hours obviously the hotel part will be easy but the drive will be long.  I think I will be okay.  I am becoming more confident with this disease and feel like I am ready for this.  I am sorry to leave you hanging for a few days but I will be back and better than before I left, at least I hope.
