The Pinks and the Blues

Growing up in an all sisters family was the absolute best.  We played with all the cute little dolls, my little ponies, strawberry shortcake and cabbage patch kids.  I knew everything that was girlie, pink and cute and knew very little about boy toys such as GI Joes, LEGO or Star Wars.  Now that I have... Holy Cow! I'm Published!

Last Week’s Blog > “Yep! I’m Thankful For That…” It’s happened… I’m officially published. I’m so excited!  Never in a million years did I think I’d have a piece published in a magazine. Heck, I never imagined I’d be writing a weekly blog on this site. All through school I labeled myself a horrible writer and... Read more »

The Holidays...Chicago Style!

Christmas is one of Chicago‘s best seasons…it makes winter tolerable for a while!  Being a Chicago-native, I have so many favorite holiday memories from my childhood that I am trying to pass onto Cooper and Cole.  I know the holidays are a busy time, but here are a few options for you to consider checking out... Family withdrawal

This was the scene two mornings in a row. Look at my niece's face. I think she was at her limit by then. Amelia and her Titi Lili, on the other hand, couldn't get enough.
It’s been a dream come true to have my brother Mario, sister in law Lili and niece Mariana in town for Thanksgiving. Amelia sees them often on Skype from Puerto Rico but her face lit up when she saw them in person inside her Chicago home. I think it’s going to be a nightmare for... Read more »

Surviving the Holidays

With the Holidays just around the corner; what are we going to do to maintain our healthy weight?  This is one of the most difficult things to do during this Season since everything seems to revolve around food.  Just one bite is what I usually say to myself but, is it really just one bite?  It... Happy Thanksgiving!

I love Thanksgiving.  It is probably my favorite Holiday.  Funny you may say that the vegetarian loves Thanksgiving, but I do.   I love it because it is all about food, and I love to eat.  But for me, Thanksgiving is also about family.  It’s about getting together and just hanging out.  It is not... Yep, I'm Thankful For That...

Atia had fun with her family at the park - it's a nice change from the monotonous trip to the park with mommy and daddy!
My Previous Blog > “Ay, Mama! We’re Famous!” I’ve decided to take a little break from my typical storyline, but I’ll get back to it next week. Here’s what’s on my mind today… As Thanksgiving approaches, I find myself counting my family’s many blessings: Atia’s improved health Asher’s growth, health and funny personality Steve’s job and... School search in Chicago

It’s 9:50AM on Saturday and I’m standing in line outside in 40 degree weather waiting  to tour a magnet school in Chicago. I’m not alone; there are about 50 parents in line. We are all wondering if this is a joke or part of a herd mentality. “If I stand outside 15 minutes before they... Read more »
