'Geek Love' on TLC

'Geek Love' on TLC
This weekend TLC premiered a two-part special called Geek Love. The series followed Ryan Glitch, founder of Sci-Fi Speed Dating. He travels to different cons with his crew, and they set up speed dating sessions for the people attending the convention. Sci-Fi Speed Dating came to Chicago’s C2E2 this past year. I didn’t go, but... Read more »

Themed weddings can actually be classy

This Thomas Kinkade painting has been my main source of inspiration for our wedding. It highlights some of the most gorgeous imagery from the movie. Our colors are dark purple and olive green. I want to incorporate the fireflies (twinkling lights), glowing water lilies (center pieces) and we're going to incorporate the frogs, and the draping tree moss...but I don't want to give all my secrets away.
When most people think of Disney animated films, they think of their childhood. Some people might argue that those are kids’ movies. I’ll admit, I grew up with Disney too, but I don’t know if I’ll ever be too old for Disney. I’ve never been one of those girls who knew exactly what she wanted... Read more »

Kollision Con Artist Alley Experience

My first Artist Alley Badge! Jessi split the table with me, and this was her second convention selling her merchandise.
Kollision Con was last weekend, and I had an Artist Alley table for the first time. I spend months preparing for this convention. Before this year, I’d never been to Kollision Con. I knew that it was the second year for the convention, so I expected it to be small. I also figured, that since... Read more »

Kollision Con is this week!

These glass potion bottles will be available as necklaces (and cell phone charms if I can get more bottles before Friday).
Kollision Con is FRIDAY! I’m super excited because this is the first convention where I’ll have an Artist Alley table! I’ve hand-sculpted hundreds of charms. Some of the items I’ll be selling at Kollision Con aren’t available in my Etsy Store yet. Since this is my first show, I have no idea what people would... Read more »

This Star Wars parody of the Maroon 5 song “Moves Like Jagger” is brilliant! Watch it. Share it. Love it.

WGN News shows some love to our Michael Jackson costumes

During the WGN Evening News, they share viewers Facebook photos that were posting on their Fan Page. Even though I work at WGN, today was the first time one of my photos made it on air. Somehow it doesn’t surprise me that the picture is of me and my fiancé in costume! (When are we... Read more »

Because one Halloween costume wasn't enough!

Friday, I wore my Hogwarts School uniform to work. Representing the Hufflepuff House! I don't think anyone at work has ever seen me in a tie. Most people got it, but there were a few who thought I was just "dressed up" for some random reason.
I have an extensive collection of costumes in my closet, so naturally one costume wasn’t enough for me this year. I suppose I was making up for my lame Halloween last year. Last Halloween I celebrated with a Smallville marathon, and I sort of half-assed a costume for work (but not a lot of people... Read more »

My Stunning Disney Princess Designer Tiana Doll

I love the little touches that are just so Disney! "big dreams. small packages."
Anyone who knows me, knows that I love The Princess and the Frog. Tiana is my favorite Disney Princess, and yes, there will be details inspired by the movie in my fairy tale themed wedding next fall (don’t worry, my fiancé is a fan of the movie too). I’ve been anxiously waiting for my limited... Read more »

The nightmare of buying a Disney Princess Designer Doll

The nightmare of buying a Disney Princess Designer Doll
I’ve never been one to collect dolls. If you ask my mother, she’ll be the first to tell you how I didn’t appreciate my Barbie Dolls (I gave most of them away to my younger cousin when I was a teenager). Looking back, I should have kept more of my dolls. At the very least,... Read more »

Caramel Treats You Can Wear

I absolutely love how these little frappuccinos turned out. I've designed a little Charms by Nash logo to go on the cups too.
I’ve been doing loads of miniature sculpting lately, and I thought it would be cool to share some progress pictures of my little creations. I sell charms and miniature food jewelry at my Etsy store Charms by Nash. This weekend I worked on two new designs with a caramel theme. I’m still working on the... Read more »
