The seemingly wingless Anaheim Ducks landed in Chicago for a Conference Finals rematch from last season. The Blackhawks, moving backwards through last years playoffs, having just beaten their Stanley Cup opponents their previous game, are coming off an overtime winner.
The Blackhawks needed overtime heroics (again) from their Captain, for the second game in a row, to win this one.
Anaheim had a roster overhaul this offseason, similar to the Blackhawks, but were still picked by media outlets to be the Stanley Cup favorites. Unfortunately for them, those earlier predictions have proved wrong at the start of the season. All they seem to be accomplishing is turning up the heat on their coach’s seat.
The Hawks were outshot most of the game (39-24), but managed to keep the game scoreless, thanks to 39 saves from Corey Crawford. It only took the Hawks about a minute for Toews to score and steal this game for the victory.
Notes from the Couch:
- Toews has two goals this season. Both scored in 0-0 overtime games. Both from the last two games.
- Crawford leads the league with two shutouts this season. Both from 0-0 overtime games. Both from the last two games.
- Crow is also 2nd in the league with 5 victories.
- Kane had an assist on the overtime goal and now has twelve points in nine games.
