Mohammad Shaikh, born and brought up in Karachi, Pakistan, is an exceptional Muslim scholar. He has a very charismatic personality and a charming way with which he carries himself.
Born on 6th October 1952 in a well-to-do family, he received religious education from his father ever since he was a kid. His father, Ghulam Nizamudin, belonged to a prominent family who was based in Delhi. Mohammad Shaikh’s grandfather was a devoted follower of Mohammed Ali Jinnah, who had initiated the Pakistani moment and founded Pakistan.
Mohammad Shaikh had started receiving primary religious education about the Holy Quran right from his early childhood under his father, who was very particular about the same. He attended Islamia College in Karachi. One of his teachers was the (Late) Maulana Hafiz Qari Abdul Haq, who taught him to read the Quran. These teachings took place at Alfalah Masjid, where Mohammad Shaikh performed Aitakaaf for at least three decades till the age of 42.
Mohammad Shaikh followed the family tradition of pursuing a career in uniformed services. He commissioned as National Services Inductee in Military Police. Later on, he took part in the Indo-Pak war that happened in 1971. Later on, he joined the Merchant Navy and gradually climbed to the rank of the second officer. His younger brother also followed the family tradition and served in Pakistan Army and later on retired as a Captain.
Few armed criminals broke into Mohammad Shaikh’s office on 15th December 1986, intending to kill him. By God’s grace, Mohammad Shaikh was not harmed by the bullets triggered. At that point, he had prayed that if he survives this attack, he will dedicate his life to Allah and his cause. Mohammad Shaikh remembers that suddenly, as if his prayers were heard and answered, the armed men fled. However, this ordeal left him psychologically and physically drained.
Post this incident, Mohammad Shaikh decided that he would teach the Quran and its preaching fearlessly and will take a stand, without second thoughts for what the Holy book stated.
One of his most significant accomplishments is that he is the only preacher from all over the world who got featured in the book “The 500 Most Influential Muslims 2010. The book was published by The Royal Islamic Strategic Studies Centre, Aman Jordan. He had been listed at the Runners-Up position i.e., ranked after Top 50. Soon after this, in an online poll that was conducted by Reuters-Faithworld, he was voted as the 4th Most Influential Muslim in the world. This was entire because of the immense dedication he has towards Islam.

In the year 2005, there was an attempt to murder Mohammad Shaikh. It was an attempt by people who opposed to the lessons and teachings of the Holy Quran and the ideals that Mohammad Shaikh propagates. While Mohammad Shaikh was in the middle of explaining ayats to a visitor, the assassin was successful in firing a few shots at him. One of these bullets managed to wound him severely. It passed through Mohammad Shaikh’s face above his jaw from the right side.
However, this attempt was made to stop his work; on the contrary, it strengthened Mohammad Shaikh’s willpower to bring the preaching of Allah to the masses.
The near-death experience he had, the spiritual lessons he had during the Hajj pilgrimage, the conversations and dialogues with Christian missionaries while he was on a sea voyage, all cumulated and motivated him to follow his heart and learn about the Quran in a detailed manner. This eventually made him organize a mission to promote the Quran amongst larger masses. Today he has two established Internet channels in both languages, English and Urdu. These channels are used to broadcast his religious shows and discussions 24*7 all over the world.
Mohammad Shaikh is living his mission of propagating the messages of Allah and the Quran amongst humanity. More information about Mohammad Shaikh can be found here.
