Quick Hits, July 10, 2012: Jesse Jackson Jr.’s illness; Roe Conn’s rumors; Mitt Romney’s money!

Jesse Jackson Jr., has been on indefinite sick leave for one month. The reason provided is "exhaustion." It sounds like his Illinois colleagues are tiring of answering the question of "Where’s Waldo" with respect to Jackson Jr. Dick Durbin has come out and told Jackson to let the public know where he is and what’s going on with him medically.

Today, Congressman Luis Gutierrez joined the call for information: "I think that he has a responsibility to give us more information," Gutierrez said. "And I'm not demanding that information. But I think the people of his congressional district deserve it. The people of Illinois deserve it. If he's going to stand for re-election you guys (the media) are going to demand it."

I love Roe Conn (WLS-AM, 2pm- 6pm). But today he started a nasty rumor about Jackson’s leave of absence, based upon two anonymous Washington sources. Until that story is confirmed (if it’s confirmed), he should have kept his mouth shut. In a court of law, if something is more prejudicial than probative, it can’t be used as evidence in front of a jury. His rumor certainly applies.

Mitt Romney has so much money he doesn’t even know where it all is. Which, considering the economy, could be considered a positive.

Can Mitt Romney lose some money in my checking account? Please?!!?

Republican Strategist, Ed Rollins said the GOP had to broaden its base. He called the party a bunch of old, fat, white guys. Rollins gets paid for analysis like that. Amazing.

Dear people of the 8th Congressional District: Please put Joe Walsh into retirement. He makes Sarah Palin look intelligent.

National League is up 8-0 in the 5th inning, in MLB’s All-Star game. If this score holds, it means home field advantage for the Cubs in the World Series. If they get to take a mulligan on the first half, that is. And get to trade teams with the Yankees.
