Nissan Leaf Going On Sale In Illinois Sooner Than Planned
2011 Nissan Leaf

If you live in the Land of Lincoln and have your heart set on a Nissan Leaf electric car, your wait is almost over.

Starting July 25, Nissan will be taking orders from existing customers in Illinois for the Leaf. Nissan will also start taking orders from existing customers in eight other states and Washington, D.C. On August 4, Nissan will begin taking orders and reservations from the general public in both existing markets and 10 additional ones.

The Leaf starts at $35,200 or $37,250, depending on which trim level buyers choose. Leasing starts at $369 per month.

Nissan had already planned to enter the Chicago market next year, but the city's push to install charging stations by the end of the year encouraged Nissan to move its plans up.

Deliveries of the 2012 Nissan Leaf are expected to begin in the fall.
