Remember; It's OK To Keep It To Yourself and Shut The F*&k Up Sometimes

In this day and age, social media has made it so easy to share everything you do, think and feel with so many people at once, that I think people have forgotten that it's ok to keep your private life private, and not say everything you think and feel.

There's certainly nothing wrong with sharing parts of your life with other people, but it seems that people have gone overboard to some extent. Although it may be hard to tell nowadays, it really is ok to live your life without sharing every part of it and to keep your trap closed!

I know this may be surprising to some of you and you may not be sure how to do this. So, I created a list of things that you're completely free to keep to yourself or be quiet about that you can use as your guide in case you need one.

First, let's start with the things you can do without having to share them, if you choose not to. Please try to keep an open mind as you read through it.

It's perfectly acceptable to keep it to yourself when;
You wake up in the morning
You take a shower
You don't take a shower
You're on a date
You're not on a date
You go out
You stay in
You go to a party
You don't go to a party
You watch TV
You watch a movie
You take your dog for a walk
You play with your dog at home
You take you cat to the vet
You bring your cat home from the vet
You're going to start working out and eating healthy
You're going to stop working out and start eating like a pig
You go to bed at night

Next, let's talk about when it's OK to keep your mouth closed.

You can always shut the fuck up when;

You see something you disagree with
You see something you DO agree with
You see something you don't like
You see something you DO like

I know that was tough and congratulations for making all the way through that very scary list. I'm sure some of you are cringing at the thought of trying this, but trust me when I say you can do it. Do you have any idea how many times I've gone to the bathroom and told no one? Or, how many ugly baby pictures, horrible fashion trends and stupid quotes I've seen where I never commented? A LOT! Therefore, I can tell you from experience that it is possible to do this without there being any adverse repercussions.

Also, Keep in mind that you don't have to do them all at once and it's ok to start out with something small like going to the store and buying toilet paper without telling anyone. Or, see a joke someone posted about a band you like and not say anything.

It will feel weird at first, but eventually, you'll start to trust yourself and then you'll know you're ready to move on to the next step. Something like taking a walk through the park and spotting a squirrel without taking and posting 50 million of pictures of yourself while doing it.

Before you know it, you'll be out having drinks with friends and waiting until it's over before you mention it on Facebook or Twitter!  You'll be able to see a post about religion or politics and just think something to yourself, and not share it or comment.

With some practice and discipline, you too can live your life in private and shut the fuck up sometimes!

It's time to take your life back! Of course, after you read your own Facebook page and see all the stupid shit you post, you may not want it back. But we can tackle that next time.
