Discover Hidden Sites and Summer Fun with the Passport to Adventure!

Looking for a reason to get outdoors and discover some local history and fun? The Kane-DuPage Regional Museum Association kicked off their annual Passport to Adventure program Memorial Day weekend. Kids (and inquisitive adults) can pick up a free passport book at local museums and nature centers in DuPage and Kane counties. The books include listings for other local history sites and nature centers that are participating in the program. When you visit a participating site, they will stamp your passport and some sites even give out a small prize.

This program is a fun way to discover local sites in your backyard that you may not even know exist. While the passport books are free, some of the museums and the Cosley Zoo charge admission if you are not a member, so keep that in mind before you head out. For the most part, the forest preserve sites like Kline Creek Farm and Fullersburg Woods are free of charge and a great way to start out your adventure.  Those that do charge an admission are pretty modestly priced and shouldn’t break the bank.

This program is a great way to get outdoors and discover the hidden treasures of Kane and DuPage county. Even if you don't plan on participating in the program, the passport book is a invaluable guide to local nature centers, historic sites and museums and is worth picking up as a guidebook to this region.
