Santorum utters the beginning of the "N" word; now can he go away?

I've said before that I am not very good at writing about politics. Yet, somehow I don't believe it requires a Harvard law degree to know that there is a time when a candidate should throw in the towel. Today I believe it is time for Rick Santorum to wave the white flag, or towel so to speak.

In a recent speech seen below, as usual Santorum is citing the things that are wrong with President Obama. In a slip of the tongue which he fails miserably to cover up, he starts to refer to Obama as a "nig---". Does this not enrage you? Does this not show you the type of personality we are dealing with?

Recently I had written a blog about the blackface incident with Billy Crystal at the Oscars. I'd written that people shouldn't be that upset about it; to lighten up. I have changed my stance on that entirely. I'd like to apologize to anyone I offended by that blog.

The racism in this country exists so much more than my mind would allow. There were those that commented to me that being African American would always be difficult due to the color of their skin. There is no getting away from it. And then they were proven correct: Trayvon Martin was shot. In my opinion it was in fact due to the color of his skin. And certainly not because he was wearing a hoodie. My 11 year old white nephew wears a hoodie everyday.

So here we have a white candidate looking for votes while insulting our President and making racist comments. Is this who we want running our country?

One of my favorite inspirational speeches of all time is Dr. King's "I Have a Dream". And of course this section of that speech:

"I have a dream that my four little children will one day live in a nation where they will not be judged by the color of their skin but by the content of their character."

Dr. King had more class and intelligence than Santorum could ever dream of. He had a vision for a United country; for people of every race to live together peacefully.

If Santorum were to have his way, every woman in America would give up their rights to control their own bodies. The Gay and Lesbian community would be damned to hell. The African American community would vacate the country. Who knows what other ideas run through that twisted mind.

Now, just as Dr. King said, I have a dream. But no one said it better than him. And I do believe that he turned in his grave over Mr. Santorum's slip of his sharp tongue.

  • I couldn't get the sound on the Santorum speech. Maybe it's me. Or maybe not?

  • In reply to Aquinas wired:

I'm getting it - try again or you tube it??

  • A brilliant piece of writing, maybe we should change his name to SAN I TOR IUM. It seems that's where he is headed.

  • First of all, you are using my video courtesy of JATV and "On The Table" Janesville WI. You are a complete liar and trouble maker. I host the talkshow this is filmed for and got the only interview after with Rick. You know as well as I do thats not what he was saying. Even if he wanted to, someone as paranoid as you would report it as such. I was there, we had two cameras on him the whole time with the rest on the world. You are searching for something not there. It doesnt even fit into the context of this sentence if you were educated in good public schools like we have in WI, like my, Russ Feingold, and Paul Ryan's high school you would know proper sentence structure.

    In reply to kurtzie:

Simple nonsense. When I first saw the clip i had no idea what to expect. Right when I heard it i immediately thought he was going to say nigger, but had to completely change his train of thought and catch himself before he completed the word. Your entire post is meaningless garbage, and it's annoying when people like you say "he wasn't going to say the n word, just admit it", as if you somehow know everyone who disagrees is a liar. I know what I heard, you idiot.

  • In reply to George Papondreou:

This is simple nonsense George. And my reply to you Kurtzie is this: I hope you have also told every news outlet, website, radio station and basically the infinite number of people reporting this that they are liars and troublemakers as well. Just google "Santorum n word" and you get over 50,000,000 results. Clearly I am not the only person who knows what he said.

This isn't his first slip of the tongue. He is a clear racist and needs to step down. It's not as though he has a chance at winning the nomination; it's time to walk away with any small shred of dignity he may have.

  • In reply to kurtzie:

If I'm not mistaken, and I don't believe I am, this video was from a campaign stop in Janesville, WI. It was filmed at the Armory in Janesville. Santorum was in a room with about 150 supporters and got feeling a little too comfortable and almost let his true feelings bubble up.

  • In reply to kurtzie:

OK Kurtzie, since you are so gifted in proper sentence structure. Please tell us what does fit into the context of the sentence? Anti-war, government n...., uh, the uh. America was a source for division..." Can you find another word that will fit into the context? He dropped his whole train of thought at that point. And if you don't see it, you're the one that needs an education.

  • I have been concerned in general about the Republican nominees....this only fuels my fears even more. Sure hope Santorum steps down soon.

The question about Racism is quite simple.
Start with Rick, Mittt, the NRA, FOX and advertisers answer:
"Do you Denounce all White Supremacist organizations?"
    Yes or NO.

It's not the end of the issue, but it's a start.
It cuts thru the BS, and gets to the nub of it.

  • i kinda think he was about to say government negotiator, so cut him a break even though i really am not a supporter of his policy or platform, the other word would not have made sence in that useage.

Zealots do things that only make sense in the context of zealots.
Santorium and the tea-baggers are zealots. Ergo, he will stay in the race until the convention.
But I'm not a zealot on this statement. ;-)
