There are a lot of changes to this years Fourth of July Fireworks extravaganza here in Chicago, so make sure you're in the know!

For the first time in quite a long time, Chicago will NOT hold their annual Fourth of July Fireworks show on the 3rd of July - this year it will actually be ON THE FOURTH.

In addition, the huge blow-out they hold every year has been scaled down this year - and there's no need for you to go downtown to watch them.

Due to the dire economic crisis that we're in the middle of, the city decided to break the one BIG fireworks show into three smaller ones.  This will probably allow more people to watch the fireworks live as you won't need to travel downtown and deal with the crowds.

If you want to experience the joys of downtown and the final day of the Taste of Chicago you can head downtown to Grant Park and grab a bite to eat, but make sure you head to NAVY PIER with plenty of time to spare to catch a special 4th Fireworks show at 9PM.
On the Southside you should head to the lake and grab a prime spot between 63rd St and Promontory Point at 9PM.
On the Northside head to the lake and grab a seat from Foster Avenue to Montrose Beach when the fireworks will be deployed from a barge off Lawrence Avenue at 9PM.
If you can't make it out to see the fireworks, you can just tune into WGN Channel 9 at 9PM and grab the fifteen minute firework show.  Also, make sure that you tune your radios to The MIX 101.9 for the fireworks choreographed soundtrack!
