April 22nd has been slated by Equality Illinois as Civil Union Lobby Day in Springfield to lobby for SB1716 - the Civil Union bill.

What is a Lobby Day?  It's an opportunity for you to become a voice of your community by heading to Springfield to talk to your legislators about the need for Civil Unions in Illinois.

Equality Illinois has organized busses that will leave Chicago at 7AM on April 22nd, stop in Oak Park and Carbondale and then make their way to Springfield.

Once you get to Springfield a "lunch and learn" will be hosted by Rick Garcia so that you can discuss effective talking points about lobbying your legislators on the Civil Union bill.

After lunch, you'll have a chance to meet with your legislators from 1-3:30PM at the State House followed by a debrief, reception and dinner before the buses head back to Chicago at 5:30.

The event is free,  yes the bus ride, yes the lunch, yes the education, yes the debrief and dinner are all free.  But you MUST RSVP even if you plan on meeting the team in Springfield.

Become involved in your community, become the voice that needs to be heard, participate in your community.
